Dr Bathgate has a history of providing medical support to elite sporting teams and individuals. Rugby Union in particular has benefited immensely from his services, with his appointments including club doctor at Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Football club, Team Doctor to the Australian Sevens Rugby Union Team and Team Doctor to the Australian U/21 Rugby Union Team. To cap it off, he is newly appointed Club Doctor for the Super 14 ACT Brumbies.

Dr Bathgate manages all acute and chronic sporting and musculoskeletal injuries as well as workplace injuries. Appropriate management plans are developed and a team approach to patient care is generated with communication between local doctors, physiotherapists and specialists.

Dr Bathgate is a keen cyclist and is also known to enjoy the early morning surf.
